LBI effectue les opérations de parachèvement à la demande de ses clients qui ont la possibilité de s’approvisionner soit en pièces dégrossies (ou demi-produits), soit en pièces usinées ou encore soudées.
Main features
Our integrated mechanical workshop (more than 100 machine tools) allows us to machine centrifugally cast (or spun cast) pieces on conventional or high precision CNC lathes.
The workshop also allows the production of welded components in a wide range of materials (non ferrous alloys, stainless steels, aluminum. The welding processes used are TIG, MIG, wrapped electrode per EN 288, ASME IX and customers specifications.
Rough machining
A specific workshop manages the rough machining, which consists in eliminating the “skin” of centrifugally cast (or spun cast) parts. All manufactured parts undergo this machining operation, which guarantees a high level of metallurgical quality.
The surface obtained, further to this operation, constitutes the basis for an exhaustive visual control and, if necessary, for other non-destructive controls: dye penetrant testing (colored and fluorescent), ultrasonic inspection (large range of search units), magnetic particles inspection and X-ray inspection (subcontracted to “Institut de Soudure” in Ennery Lorraine) depending on the specifications of our customers.

Dimensions and shapes
The centrifugal casting process (or spun casting) is mainly suitable for cylindrical or hollow pieces (rings, tubes etc…). Conical shapes, several different diameters or flange(s) can be obtained on the “as cast” outer profile. As we do not use cores, the inside diameter is cylindrical and is achieved by the quantity of liquid metal poured into the tooling.
Our extensive range of toolings (more than 1500 dies) enables us to reach the ideal cast sizes and shapes, consequently to propose the most economical solutions.
