New CNC- lathe

LBI has a new computer numerically control lathe. This machine having a tray of Ø2500 mm is able to perform pieces until Ø3500 mm and 2000 mm height.

This new tool of production which is equipped with a third axe dedicated to the drilling and the milling is particularly adapted to the production of parts for industrial sectors like energy (wind mill, water and gas turbines), heavy engineering etc.

Innovation: LBI creates a new alloy

LBI has recently developed, following to a customers specific request, a metallic material with a high deadening and absorption power. This steel named EXIUM AM was tested and approved in laboratory, and experimented on the site of LBI, and equips now its biggest horizontal centrifuge machine. The obtained results in terms of deadening and absorption are spectacular for the reduction of vibrations and the decrease of the noise level of the machine.

These characteristics are the resultant of a particular chemical composition, associated with a fabrication by centrifugal casting in metallic mould under high acceleration, causing a specific metallurgical structure.

LBI is able to answer to all your requests for parts, the whole manufacturing process of this new alloy being perfectly mastered.

Tremblement de ciel settles down to Metz

The company LBI realized in her Nantes subsidiary a sculpture in two specimens. These surprising artworks in Aluminum Bronze gilded with fine gold, measure 25 meters high and weigh 11 tons

The first specimen named « The Flame of liberty » is installed in Tokyo. The other one called « Tremblement de ciel » is located in the Arènes of Metz near to the Metz Pompidou Center. Given to France by FUJI-TV, the first Japanese TV. Channel, it symbolizes with pride the 150th anniversary of the treaty of friendship between these two countries.

TECHNICAL PERFOMANCES

Exceptional vertical centrifugal casting

In our Tecnacem plants dedicated to heavy part casting, two parts were cast for the “Chief Joseph” hydroelectric power station, located in the state of Washington in the United States.

These pieces made of Aluminum Bronze were cast by vertical centrifugal casting. They reach a diameter of 4,630 meters for a height of 400 mm.

Wearing rings for the GRAND COULEE DAM (USA)

LBI was awarded the contract for the refurbishment of the wearing rings of the 18 turbines of Grand Coulee Dam. These fully machined pieces have an outside diameter of 5.7 meters and are shipped through Antwerpen.

LBI record in vertical centrifugal casting

LBI has received from a german paper machine manufacturer an order for a suction roller.
This aluminium bronze component (diameter 1300 mm - length 2970 mm ) constitutes a record in LBI for vertical centrifugal casting heigth .
